Pages and Progress: DepEd NCR Ignites Passion for Reading Month Celebration

DepEd NCR community gathered with a shared purpose last Tuesday, November 11, for a flag ceremony dedicated to the power of the written word. The event served as a vibrant launchpad for the National Reading Month, championing literacy as a cornerstone for personal and national development.

A key highlight was the message delivered by DepEd NCR Regional Director and concurrent Officer-in-Charge of the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Operations, Asec. Jocelyn DR Andaya, who passionately underscored the transformative importance of reading. Asec. Andaya unveiled engaging regional office contests designed to celebrate literary journeys: one for the oldest, well-kept comic book and another for the latest book that has inspired personnel.

In a significant announcement, the office warmly welcomed Dr. Rita E. Riddle, a former ARD and SDS, as the newly-appointed Chief of the Education Support Services Division. This ceremony successfully wove together a celebration of new leadership, nostalgic literary treasures, and fresh inspirations, reinforcing that every page turned is a step forward for a more enlightened Regional Office.
