From Monitoring to Action: DepEd NCR Strengthens Strategic TA and WeBTA through Stronger RO–SDO Collaboration
DepEd National Capital Region, through the Field Technical Assistance Division (FTAD) brought Regional and Schools Division Office personnel together for the back-to-back Strategic TA Planning and Progress Monitoring (STAP) cum WeBTA Portal Upgrading and TA Tools Optimization Workshop on August 17–20, 2026. STAP opened through a face-to-face session on August 17 and continued online on August 18, with CID and SGOD Chiefs, SEPS-SMME, PSDS, school principals, and RO Monitoring Team Leaders and members taking part in the discussions. One of the highlights was a closer look at the thin but important line between Instructional Supervision, Regular Technical Assistance, and Strategic Technical Assistance, helping participants see more clearly when a concern calls for support beyond the school or division level. The discussion also connected Strategic TA with the BEDP 2030, Quality Basic Education Development Plan (QBEDP), and DepEd NCR Top 5 Priorities, and showed how the Strategic TA process should interface from the school to the SDO and then to the Regional Office. With these connections in mind, participants revisited their Third Quarter Strategic TA Plans and incorporated the results of the Consolidated Regional Monitoring, allowing actual findings from the field to guide the identification of concerns, priorities, and needed interventions.
The learning and collaboration continued through the WeBTA Portal Upgrading and TA Tools Optimization Workshop, conducted online on August 18 and 20 with SDO Information Technology Officers, together with the TWG May L. Borjal of SDO Muntinlupa and Adrian Buban of SDO Caloocan. Beyond looking at the technical side of the portal and the TA tools, the sessions became a space where participants openly shared their experiences, raised concerns, suggested improvements, and worked together on practical ways to make WeBTA more responsive to its users. Their active participation throughout the back-to-back activities showed that effective Technical Assistance is strengthened when people at the school, SDO, and Regional Office levels have opportunities to sit together, listen to one another, and work through common concerns. This was echoed in the participants’ request for regular face-to-face RO–SDO interfacing sessions, recognizing that sustained communication and collaboration are just as important as the tools and systems that support Strategic TA.
