Blueprints of Hope: PBBM Inspects Twin School Buildings Rising from the Ashes in Quezon City

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. visited San Francisco High School earlier today, to personally inspect two newly completed school buildings – a major milestone in the recovery from the devastating fire that struck the campus on June 15, 2025.

The first structure, the four-storey Dao Building erected by the DPWH, replaces the fire-damaged facility with 36 modern classrooms. The second, the Henry Sy Sr. Hall funded by SM Prime, rises where the old Narra Building once stood, adding 24 more rooms. Both projects wrapped up four months ahead of schedule.

Serving roughly 6,800 learners, San Francisco High School remains one of the country’s largest public secondary schools. “This is what shared commitment looks like,” said DepEd NCR Regionla Director and concurrent OIC-Assistant Secretary for Operations, Asec. Jocelyn DR Andaya, emphasizing the region’s push for better learning outcomes. Education Secretary Sonny Angara thanked all partners on the ground, while Quezon City Vice Mayor Gian Sotto reaffirmed the local government’s vow to quality education. Representatives from SM Prime and DPWH also shared messages of unity and urgency.

From tragedy to turnaround – these buildings aren’t just concrete and steel. They’re a promise kept.
